VICKY SMITH | WRITER & PHOTOGRAPHER: TRAVEL & ARTSHi I’m Vicky – a journalist, copywriter and photographer based in England. Travel is my main focus, though I sometimes cover arts too.
Previously an editor at a leading regional lifestyle magazine, I became freelance in 2021. I have writing and photography bylines in BBC Travel, The Guardian, The Independent, inews, loveEXPLORING and more. Also an experienced copywriter, I have written for a range of brands. Selected bylines can be found on my Writing and Photography pages, and you can see more images under the Travels tab. For commissions, enquiries and photography licensing, please email vicky.wordsmith@gmail.com |
A little more about me and this site
* I've visited seven continents and over 45 countries – so far! Visit the Travels tab to see more
* I hold a First Class Publishing Media degree from Oxford Brookes University, and a ‘Superior’ level certificate in Spanish Language and Culture from Salamanca University
* I’m a self-confessed experience junkie: sampling the local likes of beetle larvae and fermented shark, bungee jumping over one of Nepal’s wildest rivers, studying meditation in a Buddhist monastery... you get the gist. I generally spare you photos of me on my travels here, though – alongside things I eat and drink, where I stay and the usual social media trappings
* On this site you’ll also rarely see photos of museums and galleries, inside religious places or of the UK; this is mainly as I want to experience some places, including my homeland, without a viewfinder. In most destinations, of course, my camera is like a limb!
